Old Angers (1)

:-(

Sorry, in my dreams last night I recalled one of my many angers.

My history teacher at Grammar School was an Intelligence Agent in WWII. He was a hero. He’d even married a Scandinavian Princess.

His trick, with eleven to fifteen-year olds, was to grip the hair of one of the seated boys before him. He gripped the hair just above the ear, and twisted. The idea was to force a boy's forehead down until it hit his desktop. The pain of having your hair twisted and pulled like that is excruciating.

Passive resistance hurts like hell. My head never moved, and, surprise, surprise, by the time I was an older teenager, over 6 foot tall, with lots of bone and muscle, he was as nice as pie to me. I can laugh about it now, and say that's the explanation for my slightly receding hairline.

But now it's nearly 50 years later. Why do I sometimes dream about it and wake up angry?

How strange, the way the subconscious works.

Yes, Happy Birthday!

CI, thanks for rminding me. I remember the blog where you correctly identified my birthday in a few steps.

I'm not sure what to make of why you have continued to have that dream over the years. Perhaps you caught a glimpse of someone or something being bullied or mistreated the day before and it triggered your subconscious. Your anger could be that you felt you should have stepped in but didn't,or couldn't.

Wow! This is too deep for 7:30 in the morning. I need to go and take a nap.

HIP HIP-HOORAY!

Happy Birthday Dolores.

C.I, do you want me and a few of the lads to come over and sort out that teacher that must be a considerable age? :-)

Thank you all greatly for birthday wishes - I've been much spoiled today!

Your tale is similar to others I've heard - it seems there was a goodly sprinkling of sadistic teachers in the days of our youth.

I hope you can dream of a Being who wreaks hideous and satisfying vengeance upon them all...

Expat – yours is a brilliant analysis of the subconscious!

It’s time for me to test your theory, by retracing my steps and recreating everything that happened to me on the day before my dream.

Hmmm... I had a tooth extracted on that day, which I added to my collection. I wonder if the dentist will do a re-extraction ...

Crikey JW - I see you were the sort of pupil who went to school with an apple for teacher, and now-days you are happy to go further by taking him out!

Hello Birthday Girl! I'm glad you were spoiled! Where did you go, and what feasts did you have? Were there lots of pressies?
:-)

Hi CI - we had lunch in the conservatory of a nearby Auberge, where I had sumptuous salmon with plantain, and figs on a red wine jelly with a violet sorbet (lord knows what made it That colour)...

I think my favourite pressie was George's 'IT Crowd' mug - plain white with a picture of gorgeous geeky Moss on the underneath. (Is anyone else here a Huge fan of that programme)?

Happy Birthday DD!

CI - I think being in a war probably desensitises (is that the right number of "S"s?) people and inclines them to quite unintentional nastiness.

He probably thought he was Doing The Right Thing.

The road to Hell and so on and so forth.

Dolores - that meal sounds yummy.

And what an amazing coincidence - there's an "IT Mug" in my home too!
:-)

Hello Jon,
Maybe he did have good intentions. He certainly was a good history teacher, making me remember these events that took place so long ago...
:-)

Thankee greatly, Jon.

Yes, CI, that Is indeed a coincidence! (But why do I think you're more likely to have an IT girl on yours)?...

Dolores - egotist that I am, I was referring to myself! As an ex-computer programmer yourself - I thought you'd catch on!

Oh hell, CI! - I'm just a simple Mug...

I think you and I could talk IT geeky to each other, and drive the others crazy. Oh, "The Others" was spooky, wasn't it?

Dolores Doolittle said...

CI, I could certainly manage Geeky (as is Evident)...

"The Others" was indeed Fabulously spooky - a definite favourite.

And have you seen "Bandits"? Not remotely Spooky. But Hilarious with Bruce Willis, Cate Blanchett, and Billy Bob Thornton being geeky in an adorable manner. With a Brilliant Cate kitchen scene about 20 minutes in...
